IF1 Web Site in Transition - Saturday, April 12, 2008 @ 04:55:16 PST - Gary Davis
FYI: The IF1 web site will be moving to a new Server soon. A smooth and transparent transition is planned but there is always a possibility that the site will experience problems and could even be "down" for a period of time. If you experience problems in the next few weeks PLEASE be patient while construction is in progress. These changes are part of an effort to update and improve the IF1 web site.

2008 Reno Race Applications Available - Wednesday, April 02, 2008 @ 10:29:40 PST - Smokey Young
The Race Entry Application is now available on the website. www.airrace.org The applications (entry form and entry fee) must be received by June 30, 2008. The final paperwork deadline is August 1, 2007. There are a few new fees this year: -There will be a $100 fee for any change, no matter how minor, that is made to the entry information after it is submitted. So pick your plane name and race numbers carefully. -There will also be a $100 fee for each alternate pilot on each plane regardless if they are already racing or not. -There will also be a $115 fee to sell merchandise. This is paying for the airport permit and a temporary business license.. This year we will be collecting Alternate Pilot headshots ahead of time so that we can have the pilot badges ready. You can e-mail these pictures to anytime before August 1st. The RV Lot: On the Credential Form in the package, please indicate to me the total number of RV spots you will need. Each entry will only get one spot when they enter and after June 30th it will be first come first serve. Letting me know how many total spots you need early will help your chances of getting them and being together. The process will be the same as last year (on-time and conditional entries). Please don’t ignore these deadlines! We want everyone to be able to participate. I will be mailing out postcards as proof of your entry being accepted and completely signed off by the RARA board and the FAA. Once you receive this postcard, you can be sure that everything is in order and all you need to do is show up at registration in September. There are a lot of you to track down so keep in contact with me. Please don’t assume everything is in order…call or e-mail me and check. I will be happy to update you and help you. If you have any questions or need anything, please don't hesitate to contact me. I look forward to working with everyone again! Dana Weikel Pilot Coordinator

PRS Date Change! - Saturday, March 08, 2008 @ 17:06:38 PST - Ray Debs
Hi Everyone, I just wanted to give you a heads up. If you haven't heard from your class president already, the dates for PRS has been changed due to a major military exercise that will be held at Stead. The dates for PRS will be: June 18-21, 2008 The entry package for PRS will be available on our website March 1st. Let me know if you have any questions. Dana Weikel Pilot Coordinator National Championship Air Races 14501 Mt. Anderson St.; Reno, NV 89506 phone (775) 972-6663; fax: (775) 972-6673 September 10-14, 2008 - Presented by Breitling

Change to PRS 2008 - Thursday, February 14, 2008 @ 09:46:01 PST - Smokey Young
URGENT NOTICE!!!! We have just learned of a major military exercise that will be held in Reno June 12 - 20!!! This exercise known as Vigilant Guard will have a direct impact on PRS Race course flight operations (Jun 11 - 14) at Stead Field. This impact could compromise flight safety. We have been assured by our contacts that the exercise would be in a "wind down" mode starting on June 15-16 with the debriefing on the 20th. The Executive Committee felt that we have no option but to reschedule the seminar and will do so for Jun 18 - 21. Although this will move us to the beginning of the Rodeo we do not think there will be a problem. We are working on changing all arrangements surrounding our Seminar and will keep you posted. Received from Mike Houghton 13 Feb 08

Capitol Air Show 2008 - Thursday, January 24, 2008 @ 14:31:12 PST - Smokey Young
The Capitol Air Show will be held March 15-16, 2008 at Mather Field in Sacramento, CA. This is a big event which brings in a major US military aerial demonstration team each year along with civilian air shows acts and other military demonstrations. Mather Field offers a great environment for Formula 1 air racing. There is plenty of real estate along with close proximity to interstates, hotels and restaurants. Ray Sherwood has been working to develop this venue for IF1. We would like to have a static display of F1 racers this year at the air show with the hope of eventually racing there. If you can support this effort please contact Ray at Rayyjayy@aol.com

Pylon Racing Seminar 2008 - Thursday, January 03, 2008 @ 13:17:33 PST - Smokey Young
PRS will be June 11-14, 2008. More details will be available after the class presidents meeting to be held Feb 22, 2008. The entry package for PRS will be posted on the RARA website (www.airrace.org) no later than March 1st. If possible please send an email of intent to participate to Smokey Young (smokeyshra@aol.com) so that IF1 can begin planning for an adequate number of instructors. Kirk Murphy, Pilot Commititee Director will be the overall point of contact for PRS. Smokey

Hello Everyone,

We are getting ready to gear up again. The PRS Entry Packet is now available. I am e-mailing the packet to all the participants from last year and by special request. Other than that the packet will be available on the website in the next day or so.

Please pay special attention to the changes that have been made this year. There is a lesser charge for those of you certified to race who wish to come out and practice on the race course. Also, there are a few extra fees requested by the Unlimited Class and the Formula One Class to help offset the cost of using the aircraft needed at PRS.

If you have any questions or need anything, please don't hesitate to e-mail or call.

Website Redesign - Sunday, February 19, 2006 @ 00:08:26 PST - Ray Debs
Tonight the redesigned IF1 website goes live!

The visible changes are pretty minor, but the software has been largely rewritten, and will provide a good base for upcoming changes. You can see where some of the new features are going to go (Library). Also, I drastically reduced the amount of work it will take to do global changes to the presentation. Enough of the technical details for now (if you are interested, I will be posting more detail in the "Website" forum of the Community section).

This redesign was largely brought about by the addition of the Formula Forumn online, and this will make it easier to publish more.

If you have any suggestions, comments, or complaints, please let me know. This is your website, and it is what the outside world sees of IF1, so let's all make it better. On that note, please update your biography and plane's bio so fans can get to know you better.

Happy Flying!
Ray Debs
IF1 Webmaster, Race Pilot

P.S. if you don't see the new page, try forcing a rewrite of your cache by holding down the shift key (or control key for some browsers) and pressing the reload button.

New News Archive - Tuesday, January 10, 2006 @ 16:17:34 PST - Ray Debs
In case you were wondering why the News page loads so much quicker, it is because I moved all of the news items older than 2005 into the "News Archive" page. If you are looking for older news, there are links to the archive at the top and bottom of the News page.

Formula Forum Newsletter Now Online! - Thursday, January 05, 2006 @ 16:41:05 PST - Ray Debs
We are pleased to announce that the Print version of the Formula Forum is now available online as well. The IF1 Board of Directors has decided that issues less than 12 months old will only be available to paid IF1 Members, and older issues will be available to anyone. In order to enable this, I have added login/logout links on most of the website pages so you can register, login, or logout at any time. Once you are logged in, if you are a paid IF1 Member, you will be able to see the latest issues online. We are planning on offering other exclusive content as well in the future, so be sure to register. Some of the benefits of having the Formula Forum online are that if members opt to only receive the electronic version, IF1 can save a considerable amount of money on postage (especially for overseas members), and searching the Forum becomes very easy.

We hope you all enjoy this new feature. If you have any questions, suggestions, or complaints, please contact Ray Debs (the webmaster).

Website Upgrades - Thursday, January 05, 2006 @ 16:33:23 PST - Ray Debs
For the New Year, I have been doing an overhaul of most of the software for this website, and am rolling it out now along with the online version of the Formula Forum. The upgrades include making it easier to modify the look and feel of the whole website in the future. What you may notice is that the menu and fonts are slightly different, and on most of the pages there are login/logout links. Current IF1 members will be required to login in order to access restricted content.

If you have any questions, suggestions, or complaints, please let me know.
